Major Music Festivals Happening Year-Round

If there is something that is truly amazing and wonderful in the city of Austin, it is their dedication to the music industry. Being the Live Music Capital of the World, you can only expect the devotion the people of this city has when it comes to music. It is for this reason that year-round, there is a major music festival happening in this area.

Music festivals are great venues for live music. This is essential for Austin so that they can continuously promote their thriving breed of musical geniuses and talents. The festivals are also great in that they offer a variety of music genres, artists and bands to which visitors and natives can enjoy at an affordable price.

The music festivals happening year-round kicks off with the Mid-Winter Music festival held in late January or February. This music festival features 12 local traditional bands in 12 hours. This is then followed by the gigantic SXSW or South by Southwest Music Festival held in March. The SWSX Music has more than 2,000 performers playing in close to one hundred music venues all over downtown for four straight days.

On March and April, there’s the Excalibur Fantasy Faire which feature renaissance music. On April, two festivals are celebrated. There’s the Old Settler’s Music Festival, an outdoor music festival that showcases the greatest Americana roots music and Eeyore’s Birhday Party, a music festival named after the donkey in the Winnie-the-Pooh stories.

In the months of May and September, the Old Pecan Street festivals are celebrated with local musicians offering entertainment for the crowd on three stages. In September, the city also hosts the Austin City Limits Music festival which is a 3-day,8-stage event featuring more than 130 bands on the Zilker Park. By November, visitors can enjoy the Austin Celtic Festival which features world-class musicians. The year is then ended with live music performances in the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar held every December.
